If this is your
first time using Stella & Chewy’s, transition your pet slowly. Mix the new food
with the old food product for 5-7 days (gradually increasing amount).
Any food not
eaten within 30 minutes of offering should be discarded. Wash your pet's bowl
with hot, soapy water after each feeding.
Handling
Guidelines: Proper handling of raw foods is essential since some raw food may
contain bacteria that could cause illness to you or your pets. Be sure to keep
raw meat and poultry separate from other foods. Wash hands prior to, and after
handling raw food. Wash working surfaces, bowls, and utensils that come in
contact with raw meat with hot, soapy water. Always wash your hands after
cleaning your pet's waste; this includes litter boxes.
Stella & Chewy’s
provides exactly the kinds of food that animals would naturally seek out for
themselves in the wild. We use only free-range, USDA-inspected,
approved-for-human-consumption meats and the freshest produce, organic where
possible, with real bone ground in (NOT bonemeal). We do not “water down” the
nutritional content of our food by packing it full of grains that your pet does
not need and cannot fully utilize. Stella & Chewy’s contains no preservatives,
no chemicals, no dyes or colorings and no sugar or salt. Our food meets the
nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all

Food Safety at
Stella & Chewy’s :: An Overview: Stella & Chewy’s has not been affected by any
of the recent pet food recalls. The safety of our products has always been and
continues to be of paramount importance to us. In light of this serious scare in
the pet world, we want our customers to know what we are doing at Stella &
Chewy’s to ensure that they are getting exactly what we promise: premium quality
pet-food products. Stella & Chewy’s has recently opened our own state-of-the-art
manufacturing facility in Wisconsin. We produce ALL Stella & Chewy’s products
and ONLY Stella & Chewy’s products at this federally-inspected plant. We own all
of our own equipment, including our freeze-dryers, so that we maintain the
utmost control over the safety of our products from beginning to end. We follow
the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) guidelines, a
prevention-based food safety system created by the FDA and the USDA. The purpose
of HACCP is to identify and monitor specific food-borne hazards – biological,
chemical, or physical properties – that can adversely affect the safety of the
food product. All of our farmers and suppliers provide “Letters of Guarantee”
stating that their meats and produce are fresh, clean, and test negative for
pathogens. We are always striving to make the healthiest pet food. To that end,
we are working with top animal nutritionists and meat scientists from the
University of Wisconsin – Madison. The university team is helping us improve our
already great diets with extensive palatability trials and nutritional analysis.
We produce everything in small batches, and we test every batch prior to
shipping, for salmonella and E. coli 0157:H7. This is done at an independent lab
and our results are available for customers to view online. On the back of all
of our products you'll see a small white sticker printed with the batch number
and the "best if used by" date. Find your batch number from the list below and
click to view/download the test results for that batch (a .pdf file).
