Pets & HEAT STROKEQ. I have been told that you must be careful not to over-exercise young, growing dogs. How far should I walk with my puppy?
A. Once your puppy has completed its vaccinations, you can begin taking it out for brief walks.
Don't take the puppy on a long trek, which could result in damage to its developing joints, bones and muscles, especially in larger breeds.
Relatively short but regular walks will maintain the puppy's fitness and an extendable lead will allow it to explore safely.
Don't allow your puppy or dog off the lead until it is properly trained and unlikely to run off alone.
If you have time, you can take your puppy out two or three times during the day. This will add interest and enjoyment to the puppy's life and help to satisfy its curiosity about the world around it.
Try to choose different routes to allow your puppy to learn more about its home environment.
Take care
